Kids, we need you to vote for your class pop song!

We have emailed out kids voting forms to families who have children enrolled in our Kids classes. Please let your kids vote on what they would like to learn in Mandarin 🙂 It will be their term & holiday project! Voting closes 8pm, Wednesday 19 February!

Here are the songs up for selection, with the kids videos following:
Adele “Hello”
Taylor Swift “Shake it off”
Mark Ronson “Uptown Funk” ft. Bruno Mars
One Direction “Drag Me Down”
Justin Bieber “Sorry”

Note to parents: All lyrics will be kid-friendly Mandarin translations, based on the Kidz Bop versions (the ones usually played in primary schools).

Programme changes from Term 1, 2016

We had a great staff meeting / training day yesterday and here are some changes that we have decided to make from Term 1 this year:

Kids class duration and fee decrease:  The class will be shortened to 45 minutes. Teachers have been observing that 30 minutes is the maximum / best amount of effective activity time. The other 15 minutes will be focused on building confidence in and practising speaking through raps/songs: hello chant, name introductions, learning an Mandarin cover of a (child-appropriate) English pop song and the usual goodbye rap. The shorter class also means that the Kids term fee will decrease to $120 per term and this will make it more affordable for families too 🙂

(Babies and) Toddlers classes: These classes will be put on hold, and Stories & Rhymes sessions will be taking their place for babies and toddlers.

Lesson hand outs: These will no longer be handed out as print outs at class (hoping to save paper and time). The vocab lists will be posted up on the website on the Monday of each class week, under the News & Notices section.

Ni Hao Children’s Community on YouTube: We will slowly be creating a video library on YouTube to help support and continue the learning outside of class time for children and parents. We’re not video professionals and we don’t have time or skills to edit, so no doubt, there will be bloopers! Enjoy a few laughs on us 😉
