Learn Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language at Wadestown School

Learn in a fun & interactive way, with small group classes of 5 to 7 children. The focus is on speaking & listening, and learning by doing.

The programme is for new Mandarin language learners aged 5 to 12 years old (it is not for children who are already fluent in Mandarin). Classes are in an immersion format, which is a great way to learn when there is little exposure to Mandarin outside of class.

Wadestown School has kindly offered a space for afterschool classes in Term 3:

3:15pm–4pm, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays, in the school hall.

Note that parents are responsible for their children from 3pm until class begins. Parents are welcome to stay in class to learn Mandarin as well. An authorised adult must pick up the child after class. Class fees are $120 per child for Term 3, $200 for 2 siblings enrolled, or $250 for 3 siblings enrolled.

Please enrol at www.nihaocc.org.nz/enrol by Friday 1 July. If minimum numbers are met, we will be able to provide classes in Term 3 as a trial for the school. Classes will continue into Term 4 if families are happy with their Term 3 trial and will commit to long-term learning (1 year+) from Term 4 onwards.

Ni Hao Children’s Community is a Wellington-based charity passionate about Mandarin foreign language learning in a fun & interactive way, while making language learning accessible to as many families as we can. We understand how it feels to be learning Mandarin as a foreign language and this is reflected in the programme and style. Our vision is for Kiwi kids, from any ethnic background, to be chatting in Mandarin (developing conversational fluency).
