Learning by Doing, in full language immersion
Your child can start Level 1 in the calendar year that they are attending Year 2 at their own school.
Progression to subsequent levels is dependent on skills developed & teachers’ observations / end of year term report.
These 70-minute classes provide full immersion in the language so that the children learn and absorb in a Mandarin Chinese speaking environment. Your child will learn Mandarin Chinese as a Foreign/Additional Language at our practical, fun and interactive classes. These classes are grouped into learning levels, with each level building upon the previous one.
Through games, fun activities, hands-on tasks and role-playing, the children will pick up Mandarin Chinese and have the chance to practice it with their classmates and enjoy it in a social way. The classes are learner-centred and relevant to everyday situations. The teachers will speak in Mandarin Chinese and be using body language, however English may be used by the teacher to explain something that is conceptually difficult.
The emphasis of these classes will be to develop listening, comprehension and conversational skills in Mandarin Chinese. The classes also introduce recognition and reading of Chinese characters that are relevant to the curriculum.
There is a maximum of 10 children per class. Children are to be dropped off to class and picked up after by a pre-authorised adult, however parents/caregivers are welcome to quietly sit at the back of the class to learn along the way, and may sometimes be asked to help with props or be actors!

Lesson 2 你叫什么名字？What Is Your Name? You will be able to introduce your name and other’s name
Lesson 3 你几岁？How Old Are You? You will be able to count from one to ten and introduce your & other’s age
Lesson 4 你是哪国人？What Is Your Nationality? You will be able to ask and answer questions pertaining to nationalities, and talk about commonly-used country names
Lesson 5 我上大华小学I Go to Dahua Elementary School You will be able to express which school you go to and your grade level
Lesson 6 我爱我的家I Love My Family You will learn the way in which introduce your family members. For example, you will be able to ask who someone is, and tell how many people in your family
Lesson 7 你住在哪里？Where Do You Live? You will be able to introduce your living address.
Lesson 8 今天是几月几日？What Date Is It Today? You will be able to exchange information on days of the week, and months. You will learn to state and ask for the date. You will also learn to wish someone “Happy Birthday”
Lesson 9 今天是星期几？What Day Is It Today? You will be able to express different days (today, yesterday, tomorrow) and months.
Lesson 10书包里有什么What Is In The Backpack? You will be able to ask and answer questions about possessions and identify various classroom furniture and objects
Lesson 11我喜欢吃水果 I Like Fruits You will be able to inquire and express preferences for fruits and express likes and dislikes.
Lesson 12 你想吃什么？What Do You Want to Eat? You will be able to express hunger and thirst, and ask for food and drink and identify a few common food and drinks

Lesson 13 她喜欢红色 She Likes The Color Red You will be able to identify and name several commonly-used colors, talk about color preferences, and use colors to describe and distinguish
Lesson 14他今天穿什么？What Is He Wearing Today You will be able to identify and tell the color of family member’s attire
Lesson 15 她的眼睛很大 Her Eyes Are Very Big You will be able to name and identify basic body parts, describe and physical features and appearances of others, use common descriptive words to express size and length
Lesson 16 我喜欢运动I Like Sports You will understand terms for different sports and be able to express different preferred sports
Lesson 17 可爱的小动物 Lovely Pets You will be able to exchange information on pets using appropriate measure words, express quantities, and distinguish pronouns for animals
